Dutch Wall (Matthijs de Ligt)

 Golden boy winner, Dutch wall Matthijs de Ligt announced his-self to the world in 2018-19 UCL Ajax run. He was captain of that side and the concrete wall in front of the goal. After that season, all the big European clubs were in the race to sign him & Juventus won that battle. After 3 years at Juventus, FC Bayern is his new home now.

22 years old Dutchman has proved himself at Juventus under the mentorship of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci. He is one of the best center back in the world right now and his stats speak for him.

de Ligt is a ball-playing defender who also takes part in the build-up. He stays within the goal line & has a good sense of the opposition's offensive tactics. His ability to intercept through balls effectively and make a quick clearance or pass to the midfielder makes him unique. Due to his good height, his jumping and heading ability are quite extra ordinary, makes him very useful for corners and winning aerial duels. He has a strong physique. It is difficult for a striker to go through him when he is pressured. He can block the shots very effectively with his body.

de Ligt is not a pacey defender, his speed and acceleration bar him from defending counterattacks against speedy strikers. If he gets out of position it takes time for him to recover which leaves a gap in defense sometimes.

Fc Bayern loves to play with high press and high defending line. They also tighten the spaces. So, it 'll not be easy for the strikers to pass through the defender like de Ligt, Along with Upamecano and Lucas Hernandez, it 'll not be easy for any team  to score against FC Bayern. de Ligt's ball playing and dribbling ability also helps him to play through midfield. 

So, he is a complete package.

As FC Bayern have sold David Alaba last season and Sule this season. It was essential for FC Bayern to sign a defender. A young defender like  Matthijs de Ligt is an ideal signing for them.  His price tag is quite high but his age and stats justifies the price. 

de Ligt is one of the best CB right now, So, hopes of  Bayern fans are quite high right now. It 'll be too early for anyone to say what 'll be the outcome.  But a signing like de Ligt always give you hopes.
